60 Taliban killed in Matta airstrikes

* Huge training camp, cave hideouts destroyed
* 12 Taliban killed in Bajaur operation

ISLAMABAD: At least 60 Taliban were killed when fighter jets bombarded a Taliban training camp and suspected hideouts in Matta tehsil in the restive Swat district on Friday, security officials said.
“Security forces destroyed a training camp and hideouts of the Taliban in Peochar in Swat valley, killing 60 of them and injuring scores of others,” a senior security official told AFP.
Another security official said fighter jets bombed a huge training camp and cave hideouts of the Taliban deep in the mountains, inflicting heavy casualties.
He said sources from the area confirmed that 60 Taliban were killed in the airstrike and the number could increase once bodies were retrieved from the caves and other targeted areas.
Bajaur: The security forces also launched an offensive against the Taliban in Bajaur Agency on Friday, Reuters reported.
Backed by helicopter gunships, artillery and jet fighters, the operation in Loyesam area killed 12 militants, a paramilitary official said. agencies
