Couple killed in the name of honour, killer surrenders

RAWALPINDI: A man on Sunday morning surrendered himself to Waris Khan Police after killing his newlywed daughter and son-in-law in the name of honour.

Police arrested him and began investigation into the killing.

In May this year, Shabana, 20, had eloped with Abdul Khursheed, 40, who was already married and had three children.

The act enraged girl’s father, Abdul Rasheed of Dhoke Farman Elahi, who shot dead the couple late on Saturday night after inviting them to a tea party at home.

The killer later showed up at Waris Khan Police Station and confessed to killing the couple. Police took him into custody and seized bodies and gun used for the killing from his house.

They later booked Rasheed in a double murder case and handed over the bodies to respective families after autopsy.

Investigation Officer (IO) Yousaf Butt said the couple was murdered in the name of honour.

He said Waris Khan police had registered a case of the girl’s kidnapping at the request of her father but failed to trace her whereabouts despite making many arrests. staff report
