Staff Report
ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Sunday asked the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and PML-Quaid to challenge the candidature of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari for the presidential poll.

He said that the PML-N and PML-Q should challenge the candidature of Zardari on the basis of corruption allegations and media reports about his health.
The PTI chairman said his party would also move the court against Zardari once sacked chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry was reinstated, as the nation would never accept an ‘NRO president’. He reiterated that his party does not accept the ‘Provisional Constitution Order (PCO) judiciary’.
Imran said Zardari would be acceptable to him if he reinstated Justice Chaudhry and other sacked judges and was cleared of his corruption cases withdrawn under the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO).
The cricketer-turned-politician announced a protest walk on September 5 from Islamabad Press Club to Parliament Lodges against Zardari.
He said it would be very unfortunate if Zardari was elected and the country would face more dire consequences than under General (r) Pervez Musharraf, “There will be civilian dictatorship in the country and that would be a disaster for democracy”, he added.
