Militants kill policeman, blow pylon
PESHAWAR: Militants attacked a police station late on Friday, killing a policeman and critically injuring two others. Police officials told Daily Times that hundreds of heavily armed militants attacked the Mattani Police Station, some 29 kilometres to the south of the city. The attack left a policeman Saleem dead, while two others, Wajid and Tariq, sustained injuries. Suspected militants blew up an electricity pylon in the Shaikh Muhammadi area late on Friday, disrupting electricity supply for many hours. Peshawar Electric Supply Corporation spokesman Shaukat Afzal told Daily Times that the replacement work on the site of the tower had been started and the chief executive of PESCO had also visited the site. He said that he could not say when electricity supply would be restored because the work was a lengthy process. manzoor ali shah
