PML-N announces by-election nominees

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Punjab President Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa on Friday announced the party nominees for the national and provincial assembly by-elections.

The candidates were finalised after a parliamentary board meeting held at the Model Town residence of PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif.

National Assembly: The PML-N candidates nominated for contesting National Assembly (NA) seats are: NA-52 Rawalpindi, Capt (r) Muhammad Safdar; NA-55 Rawalpindi, Haji Muhammad Pervez Khan; NA-123 Lahore, Hamza Shahbaz Sharif, NA-123 Lahore, Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif; NA-131 Lahore, Rana Muhammad Atteq Anwar.

PML-N has not nominated any candidate for NA-147 Okara following request from Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari.

Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan vacated NA-52 while Javed Hashmi vacated two seats including NA-55 and NA-123 because of winning elections from more than one seats.

Provincial Assembly: The candidates nominated for contesting Punjab Provincial Assembly seats are: PP-70 Faisalabad, Rana Sanaullah Khan; PP-99 Gujranwala, Hasan Saifullah Buttar; PP-124 Sialkot, PP-141 Lahore and PP-154 Lahore Mian Shahbaz Sharif; PP-171, Rana Muhammad Arshad; PP-229 Pakpattan Sardar Wajid Ali Dogar; PP-243 DG Khan Sardar Zulfiqar Khan Khosa; PP-277 Bhawalnagar, Fida Hussain Kaluka.

PML-N has not issued the party nominations to any candidate from PP-258 Muzafargarh and PP-219 Khanewal.

PML-N would also not field any candidate from PP-295 Rahim Yar Khan, where Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani’s son is contesting the election.

PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif would finalise nominations for five constituencies including PP-10 Rawalpindi, PP-48 Bhakkar, PP-59 Faisalabad, PP-107 Hafizabad and PP-118 Mandi Bahauddin.
