Karachi nazim gets special treatment in US

KARACHI: Hoping that the nazim of Karachi could be a future political leader in Pakistan, the State Department of the United States is offering ‘special treatment’ to Syed Mustafa Kamal during his visit to the US.

Kamal is a guest in the US as part of a political mission, CNN said in a transcript of an interview with Kamal that was released in a Karachi city government statement on Sunday. The statement quoted CNN State Department correspondent Zain Vergee as saying that the State Department brought in thousands of people each year from all over the world to promote ties between various countries and the US.

Kamal described his visit to the US as very successful, saying that he used the opportunity to portray a good image of Karachi and remove misconceptions about the largest city of Pakistan, the statement said, adding that the Karachi nazim drew particular attention to development projects underway in the city. app
