LAHORE: The Punjab University (PU) and University of Central Lancashire (UCLan), United Kingdom, have decided to collaborate in the fields of computer sciences, technology and physical sciences.
According to a press release issued by the PU on Tuesday, the decision was made at a meeting between PU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran and Prof Dr Waqar Ahmed, the professor of Nanotechnology and Advanced Manufacturing at the UCLan.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Kamran said that students at the PU were more talented than students at any other university of the country.
He said that the PU had educational linkages with various foreign universities. He said that the PU and the UCLan must sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to facilitate their faculties as well as their students.
Prof Waqar Ahmad briefed the hosts about his university and extended a proposal for cooperation between the two universities. PU External Linkages Acting Director Dr Rukhsana Kausar and Chemistry Institute Director Prof Dr Jamil Anwar Chaudhry also gave their inputs in this regard.
It was decided that PU students’ tuition fee would be waved off at the UCLan and the two universities would work together in the field of research.
The press release read that the PU would send documents to Prof Waqar Ahmad and a formal MoU would be signed soon.
Later, the Physics Department students joined the meeting and had an interactive session with the guest. Prof Waqar asked students about their career planning and goals in life.
He urged the students to always fix a target in life and lead a directional life to achieve that target with passion, vision and enthusiasm.
