It is with this thought that we dedicate International Women’s Day 2008 to Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto,” said PPPWW Sindh Information Secretary and MPA-elect Shazia Marri while addressing a press conference at the Karachi Press Club Friday.
Marri said that it was the PPP that established the first women police station, the first women’s bank, employed over 50,000 female health workers, appointed female judges to the High Court and designated female ambassadors to represent Pakistan in other countries. Inline with its deep-rooted commitment to women, the PPP is focused on women empowerment and gender equality.
“The PPP salutes the ceaseless struggles of mothers, daughters, wives and sisters all over the world, and assures them of its support to the cause of women,” said Marri, adding that PPP plans to enunciate a national policy for women, facilitating job creation and women participation in the economy.
