Pakistan and Iran to improve trade ties: Amer

Staff Report

LAHORE: District Nazim Mian Amer Mahmood on Monday said Pakistan and Iran would extend cooperation in trade, industry and modern technology in near future. He said the two countries were tied with each other due to centuries old religious, historical and cultural relations.

Addressing a ceremony of renaming Canal Road from Mall Road Bridge to Dharampura Bridge with Esfahan Avenue on Monday, he said relations between Pakistan and Iran would be strengthened after starting an Information Centre in the Iranian Consulate.

He said businessmen of both the countries should play a role to promote profitable economical activities in each other’s countries.

He said the government would provide maximum facility to Iranian businessmen to hold exhibitions in Lahore and similarly the Iranian government would help Pakistani businessmen to conduct exhibitions in Iran.

Esfahan Mayor Dr Murtaza Saqaiyan Nejad, Iranian Consulate General Saeed Khirazi, Deputy Consulate General Ali Asghar, and Model Town Society President Col (r) Tahir Kardar were also present on this occasion.

Nejad said an exchange of delegations would help bring the masses of both the countries close to each other. He said a famous road of Esfahan would be renamed ‘Lahore’ by him in the near future.
