30-body mortuary opens in Malir Town

KARACHI: Malir Town Acting Nazim Sharafat Ali inaugurated the town’s first mortuary Friday and vowed to expand similar facilities in other union councils (UC) in the future.
Ali said that the town administration constructed this centre at an estimated cost of Rs 5 million, and it has the capacity for 30 bodies along with an ambulance services. “The Khidmat-e-Khalq Foundation donated four ambulances and one bus to the centre,” he said. The work on the mortuary located in UC 2 near Kala Board area started a year ago.
German Commercial Ambassador inaugurates filter plant: The third filter plant “Safe Drinking Water Center” in UC1 was inaugurated Friday by Gulshan-e-Iqbal Town Nazim Wasay Jamil with the Germany Commercial Ambassador Gudrun Haider.
The first two filter plants were set up in UC 6 and 10, in collaboration with Jans Consultant, to provide hygienic filtered potable water to the residents. The residents will be able to purchase the filtered water at Rs 120 per month.
Officials told to clean drains: Shah Faisal Town Acting Nazim Karimuddin directed officials to continue cleaning the entire storm and sewerage drains immediately, to provide a healthy atmosphere to the residents.
During his visit of UC 3 with Town Municipal Officer (TMO) Fuzail Bukhari and other officials, he inspected the cleaning work and appealed to the people to avoid throwing garbage in open storm and sewerage drains.
Development projects in Jamshed Town: Jamshed Town Nazim Javed Ahmed said that one billion rupees development projects are in progress in all the UCs of the township.
The town nazim also mentioned that they had installed more than 4,000 streetlights on different roads. This he stated in a meeting with a delegation of different UC representatives Friday.
New Karachi Town Nazim inaugurates elevator in SGH: An elevator facility for patients of the Sindh Government Hospital (SGH) was inaugurated Friday by New Karachi Town Acting Nazim Muhammad Zulfiqar with TMO Syed Kamal Ahmed. “The elevator has been installed with the discretionary funds of former MPA Shoaib Bukhari,” he said.
Gulshan Town Nazim lays foundation stone of development works: Gulshan-e-Iqbal Town Nazim Wasay Jalil laid the foundation stone of various projects in UC 10, Block 11, worth millions of rupees Friday.
The construction of a road from University Road to Rashid Minhas Road is in progress with a cost of Rs 13 million.
The nazim laid the foundation stone for the construction of a park on one acre of land along the boundary wall of NIPA, which is to cost Rs 10 million. In Block 11, a storm water drain system was laid at a cost of seven million rupees while a system of water lines has been laid behind the AGPR Office with a cost of one million.
