ECP rejects review appeal of Sharif brothers

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission (EC) of Pakistan on Monday rejected the review appeal filed by former premier Nawaz Sharif and his brother Shahbaz Sharif against the rejection of their nomination papers.

Sources said that Akram Sheikh, on behalf of the Sharif brothers, had submitted the review appeal before the EC in which the petitioners requested the chief election commissioner to use his authority to reject the returning officer’s decision.

However, the EC rejected the plea with the objection that the application should be submitted before the relevant tribunals. The time for consulting the said tribunals has, however, expired. online
