Another treat for drama loving Islamabadis at hand

ISLAMABAD: Filled with passion, gut-wrenching drama and intrigue, the theatrical play, The Good Doctor, is set to enthrall the audience as it traces its macabre tale of ambition, explosive jealousies and a most powerful love.
Director of the play Osman Khalid Butt told reporters here on Saturday that his production house, The Living Picture, nurtured and advanced the performing arts in the country.
“This October/ November, The Living Picture will treat audience to something they have never seen before onstage: a dark, suspenseful thriller designed to chill to the bone,” he said in the presence of the whole cast of the play.
He said the drama’s story was about a piercingly brilliant but eccentric Dr Cyrus Norton who runs a highly prestigious school of anatomy but his ambition was to collect and preserve every part of the human body.
He said his production house was just striving to revive the theatre in the country and had achieved some success in this regard as their previous plays including ‘Some Like It Hot’ gained record popularity.
“The Good Doctor’s a play in which one must expect the unexpected. One bone chilling scene follows another, as the plot twists and turns with devilish cleverness, and with such an abundance of thrills that audience will be held enthralled until the final moments of the play,” he informed.
Butt claimed that the costumes would be a major attraction, majestic and beautiful in their richness, truly transporting audience to a faraway place and a time long, long past.
“It features a highly atmospheric musical score, enhancing its suspenseful and dramatic aura while the sounds and music are emphasised in particular in this production,” he said.
The Good Doctor is to be staged on October 24 until November 8 at the Islamabad Club Auditorium. The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has collaborated with the production house in staging the drama, with the French Embassy supporting the event.
CDA Culture Director Syed Mustafain Kazmi said the CDA would continue supporting healthy activities in the capital. “We had sponsored more than 30 plays in the last two years which shows our commitment to the promotion of cultural activities in the city,” he said. Alliance Françoise Director Mathieu Declercq said this kind of collaboration would help strengthen cultural ties between Pakistan and France.
