Lal Masjid repair work to complete in 15 days

ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has been asked to complete the repair and rehabilitation of Lal Masjid within 15 days.

CDA Chairman Kamran Lashari told Daily Times on Saturday that the authority started repair work on Friday evening and it would take about 15 days to rehabilitate the Lal Masjid in its original form. The repair work includes replacement of burnt doors and windows, repair of walls and minarets and construction of boundary wall. Another CDA official said the illegally built high boundary wall would be demolished and only 4.5 feet high wall would be constructed as approved in the CDA map. He said the clerics had built the boundary wall higher than the limit allowed in the approved map.

However, the government is yet to decide about the fate of adjoining Jamia Hafsa structure. A private architecture company has been tasked to examine it. staff report
