HMC doctor awarded US fellowship

PESHAWAR: Dr Tahmeedullah, an assistant professor at the Hayatabad Medical Complex (HMC)’s Plastic Surgery Department, has been awarded a six-month US fellowship in plastic and reconstructive surgery.

According to a statement issued here on Friday, the American Association of Plastic Surgeons and the Plastic Surgery Educational Foundation selected Dr Tahmeedullah for the international fellowship in reconstructive and craniofacial surgery in the US.

He will work with Prof Arun Gosain at the Rainbow Children Hospital, Cleveland, Ohio, Prof Joseph McCarthy in the New York Medical University and Prof Ian Jackson, Craniofacial Centre, Southfield, Michigan.

Dr Tahmeed is the first plastic surgeon of NWFP and second in the country to get this fellowship. A total of five plastic surgeons have been selected from all over the world for the fellowship. One of Dr Tahmeedullah’s research papers has also been accepted for presentation in the Annual International Conference of American Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons to be held in Baltimore in October 2007.
