Lawyers denounce Kurd’s arrest
LAHORE: Lawyers on Saturday condemned the arrest of Pakistan Bar Council vice chairman Ali Ahmad Kurd and called it an attempt to sabotage the lawyers’ movement.
Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) president Munir A Malik, secretary Zulfiqar Bukhari, Punjab Bar Council vice chairman Tariq Javed Warraich, Lahore High Court Bar Association president Ahsan Bhoon, Lahore Bar president Syed Mohammad Shah and SCBA spokesman Mohammad Azhar in a joint statement said Mr Kurd’s arrest had cost the government had lost its credibility in public. They said the government was not in a position to control lawyers’ movement.
They demanded immediate release of Mr Kurd. They also demanded action against the people concerned. They threatened to launch a movement if Mr Kurd was not immediately released.
