Royal wedding souvenirs ready
Woolworths is designing a range of royal wedding souvenirs for Prince William and Kate Middleton, even though the couple have made no announcement about their future.
They have produced 100,000 souvenirs ready to be deployed to stores if Prince William and Kate get engaged.
Woolworths has 25,000 commemorative mugs, 15,000 tea towels, 12,000 plates and 8,000 mouse mats bearing pictures of William and Middleton, all of which are ready to go on sale within 48 hours of an engagement announcement.
The retailer has reportedly commissioned another 20 products, including plastic dolls of the couple, mobile phones, wine glasses and fluffy slippers.
“There was massive demand for products when (Prince) Charles and (his second wife) Camilla got married,” the company’s Marketing Director Stephen Robertson said.
“But because of their short engagement we didn’t have enough time to design, manufacture and retail products. This time we’ll be ready.” A Will and Kate pick ’n’ mix selection is also being developed. The company says that the souvenirs market could be worth £10 million. Agencies
