Alim arrested for rape

KARACHI: The Mehmoodabad police arrested a faith healer on rape charges Monday.

Qasim Ali Shah had opened his astana in a woman Samina’s house in Mehmoodabad Sector E. He hailed from Vehari, Punjab. On Saturday, a ten-year-old girl went to Samina’s house to play with her children. The girl is the daughter of a NICVD employee named Iqbal. The girl told the police that Qasim closed the doors of the house when Samina was at home and ripped her clothes off and raped her during which she fell unconscious. When she came to she was in hospital.

The police have arrested Qasim and Samina on rape charges. “We had complaints about him earlier and upon the child’s examination the doctors have confirmed there was rape but we are waiting for the chemical report,” said SHO Mehmoodabad Saeed Rind.

Jewellery was recovered from their possession. The police said that Qasim came to Samina’s house sixteen days ago. She is his muridni (ardent follower) and she had distributed sweets in the neighbourhood upon his arrival and since then women had been arriving at their doorstep for help.
