Pakistan is Beautiful and so are rickshaws’

MULTAN: A British couple tourists, Thomas and Luice, are on an adventurous visit of South Asia these days. They arrived in Lahore from Thailand and hired an auto-rickshaw to visit different places in Pakistan. They said Pakistan was a beautiful country and had many enchanting places, but the Pakistan government had not done much to promote tourism and foreigners were not aware of the good sites in Pakistan.

Talking to newsmen in the Tourism Development Corporation Punjab (TDCP) Multan office, they said they began their trip from Thailand and arrived in Lahore from where they hired a auto-rickshaw. They went to Islamabad, Dera Ismail Khan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Mianwali and finally to Multan. They said they were impressed by the hospitality of Pakistanis and would like to visit other areas of Pakistan.

“We can never forget respect and honour the Pakistanis have given to us,” they said. They said that when they arrived in Lahore, people were staging demonstrations against the publishing of caricatures of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) in various European newspapers, who damaged their rickshaw. They condemned the publication of caricatures and said the British government had already condemned the act.

Regarding the trip, they said they wanted to promote love and brotherhood between religions and civilisations. They would complete their journey in four months. They said they had decided to make their journey by rickshaw because it was cheap and easy. They said they were impressed by the beauty and culture of Pakistan. staff report
