Foreign investment strengthening economy: Elahi

Staff Report

LAHORE: The influx of investment in the country because of government’s effective policies has improved its economy, said Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi.

He said the government’s reforms in the agriculture and industrial sectors had enabled it to provide a platform for industrial development and elimination of poverty and unemployment.

He was talking to German Ambassador Guntr Mulack at Chief Minister’s Secretariat on Saturday. The CM said that Pakistan and Germany had strong economic and trade relations. The Education Sector Reforms Programme had increased the literacy rate in the province, he added.

Elahi said that trade relations between Germany and Pakistan were strengthening and German investment in Pakistan was increasing. He said that Germany had always cooperated with Pakistan on important issues.

Mulack said that Lahore had rich traditions of peace, mutual love, culture and sports. He said that Germany would continue cooperating with Pakistan to complete development projects. The German government would help the October 8 earthquake victims, he added.
