Corps commander urges psychological treatment of earthquake victims

LAHORE: Lahore Corps Commander Lieutenant General Shafaatullah Shah visited Combined Military Hospital (CMH) and inquired after the earthquake victims admitted for treatment in various wards of the health facility.
He met the patients who were evacuated from Muzaffarabad and surrounding areas of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and asked the doctors about the nature of ailment and progress of their recovery, an official statement said on Monday.
He urged the doctors and paramedical staff to provide best possible medication and treatment to the patients and be affectionate and kind to them. He said the physical wounds would take time to heal but the magnitude of the psychological impact caused in the aftermath of the devastating tragedy was serious.
Shah was impressed by the sense of fortitude, perseverance and resolve among the victims and said that he was happy to see child patients with schoolbooks on their side racks, the statement concluded.
Sadiq Public School’s donation: Meanwhile, the principal, staff and students of Sadiq Public School, Bahawalpur, met with Punjab Governor Lt Gen (r) Khalid Maqbool at Governor House on Monday and presented a cheque of Rs two million for the Presidential Relief Fund.
The school’s Principal Professor Muhammad Asif led the delegation and was accompanied by Ghzanfar Ali, Muhammad Usman, Wardah Noor, Maha Owasi, Head Girl Maryam Gillani, Head Boy Muhammad Shahzad and girls’ section headmistress Maliha Hassan. The governor appreciated the effort by the students and staff in helping their countrymen.
