Qila Deedar Singh residents exempt from property tax
* Elahi asks PML members to maintain unity and party discipline

LAHORE: Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has urged Pakistan Muslim League (PML) assembly members, office bearers and workers to maintain unity and accelerate their efforts for organising the party at every level.
Difference of opinion and constructive criticism were part of democracy and the people conspiring to create cracks in the PML should adopt a positive attitude and observe party discipline, said Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi while addressing a big public meeting at Qila Deedar Singh, Gujranwala, on Wednesday.
Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi said that President General Pervez Musharraf had introduced revolutionary reforms for upholding the rights of women and minorities, the pace of social development had been expedited and local and foreign investment had increased because of the president’s political, administrative and economic reforms.
He said the PML had laid the foundation of a strong political system and positive results were witnessed in the economic and social sectors because of political stability.
The chief minister said the government had waived agriculture tax up to 12.5 acres of land for the socio-economic development of the farming community. He added that the government had provided Rs 1.75 billion for development projects in Gujranwala. He said that Rs 250 million had been allocated for the sewage system and more funds would be provided for the completion of this project.
Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi also announced the exemption of property tax for Qila Deedar Singh, provision of Sui gas to Qila and Ghakar, repair and construction of roads, up-gradation of schools, provision of a laboratory for the Ghakar Rural Health Centre and the reconstruction of the sewage system in Qila, Ghakar and Gujranwala.
Meanwhile, on the instructions of Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi , Chaudhry Akhtar Rasool, adviser to the chief minister, has left for Chakothi, Azad Kashmir, to inspect the rehabilitation activities for the earthquake-affected people.
