Taliban kill Afghan deputy governor
KABUL: Suspected Taliban loyalists shot dead a deputy provincial governor travelling to a conference on national reconciliation, an intelligence official said on Friday.
Gunmen opened fire on Nimroz province Deputy Governor Haji Namatullah on Thursday as he was travelling by car to Kabul, the province’s Intelligence Director Mohammad Yaseem told AFP. None of the other people in the car was hurt in the ambush in the volatile Zabul province on the Kandahar-Kabul highway. Namatullah was heading to Kabul for a two-day conference organised by the National Independent Commission for Peace and Reconciliation. afp
