Indian trader visits Lahore chamber

LAHORE: The Indian people in general and the trading community in particular will continue to extend every help to Pakistan in its efforts for the early rehabilitation of earthquake affectees.

This was the upshot of a meeting between Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) President Mian Shafqat Ali and Sanjay Ghalhotra, Director of M K Hotel, Amritsar, at the LCCI on Tuesday.

The meeting, which continued for well over an hour, was also attended by LCCI Vice President Aftab Ahmad Vohra, Vice President SAARC Chamber of Commerce Jamil Mehboob Magoon, former president Mian Misbahur Rehman, Executive Committee members Mian Abuzer Shad, Yaqoob Tahir Izhar and Yousaf Shah.

Mr Ghalhotra praised the LCCI’s role, saying the spirit shown by the trading community of Pakistan in the time of crisis had no match in the history of the country. Speaking on the occasion, the LCCI president informed the distinguished guest about the relief work done by the LCCI so far. He said the LCCI planned to set up a tented city soon.

He said the LCCI had donated Rs 4.5 crore to the President's Relief Fund in the shape of cash and medicines.

LCCI Vice President Aftab Ahmad Vohra said the trading community would continue to provide maximum help to all those who were in need at the moment. He said the resettlement of displaced and homeless persons was one of the priorities of the LCCI. He said the LCCI was doing its best to generate maximum funds and would also ensure proper utilization of the funds. staff report
