PVHA collects Rs 2.3m for quake victims

LAHORE: The Pakistan Veterans Hockey Association (PVHA) organised a charity dinner on Monday and collected Rs 2.3 million to help the victims of the devastating earthquake at the Hockey Club of Pakistan Stadium Karachi, said a PVHA spokesman here.

Former Olympians, international players, umpires, coaches and officials of various associations also attended the event. Renowned businessman Aqeel Karim Dady donated a cheque of Rs one million, Olympian Hassan Sardar Rs 300,000, Muhammad Shafique Rs 250,000, Saudi Pak Bank president Mansoor Masood Khan Rs 300,000, Sindh Sports Minister Qamar Mansoor Rs 50,000, Karachi Hockey Association secretary Gulzar Ahmad Khan Rs 50,000, Abid of Quetta and Ghulam Haider of Balochistan Rs 50,000 each while many others donated cash and cheques.
