Mild earthquake in Muzaffarabad

ISLAMABAD: An earthquake of mild intensity was felt in Muzaffarabad and its surrounding areas at around 7:05pm on Monday.

The Metrological Department measured the intensity as 4.2 on Richter scale. The epicentre was 200 kilometres northeast of Peshawar in Hazara. The European Commission’s Global Disaster Alert System said the tremor’s intensity was 4.6 and its epicentre was 105 km north of Islamabad.

The Met office warned that a strong westerly wave was likely to grip Pakistan on Wednesday evening and may prevail over the earthquake-affected areas for five days.

Widespread rain and thunderstorm with snow was forecast in all earthquake-affected areas, including Muzaffarabad, Rawlakot, Bagh, Chikothi, Abbottabad, Balakot, Mansehra, Batgram, Kohistan, Shangla, Kaghan, Naran and their surrounding areas. app
