Saeed and Yasin Malik discuss relief for AJK

Staff Report

LAHORE: Jamaatud Dawa (JD) chief Hafiz Muhammad Saeed met Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Chairman Yasin Malik at Jamia Qadsia on Sunday and discussed relief activity for earthquake-affected people in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

Later, Saeed hosted a reception to honour Malik. Several editors of various newspapers, columnists and other people related to the Kashmir Movement were invited. Malik said the earthquake had established that Kashmir was not only a political issue but also a human issue. He said that divided Kashmiri families could not help each other after the earthquake because of the Line of Control (LoC).

“I salute the Pakistani people for their outpour of love for the Kashmiri people. When I arrived in Pakistan after the earthquake, it seemed that every Pakistani was bringing goods for earthquake victims and this proved that Pakistanis had unconditional love for their Kashmiri brethren,” said the JKLF chief. He said the earthquake also proved that all Pakistanis were united and it was the duty of political and religious leaders to strengthen this unity.

Saeed said that love for Kashmir and its people was a part of faith for Pakistanis. He said, “The Kashmiri Freedom Movement has given respected and responsible leadership to Kashmiris and now they will also get freedom.” He praised the Kashmiri people, adding, “Through Yasin Malik, the whole Pakistan is Kashmir and whole Kashmir is Pakistan.”

Nawai Waqt Editor-in-Chief Majid Nizami said, “I have heard that Malik is a jihadi-minded person and I pray to Allah to strengthen his jihad.” He said that jihad was a commandment from God and obligated to every Muslim. Kashmir is Pakistan’s jugular vein and the country cannot survive without it, he added.

Nizami said, “I am convinced that Kashmir can be freed through jihad. Though, I never sacrificed my life for Kashmir, I was a frontline activist of the Kashmir Movement before the division of the subcontinent and used to supply goods to Kashmiri mujahideen.”The Nawa-I-Waqt editor said the government was labeling jihad as “militancy” because it feared George Bush, otherwise the rulers did not oppose it.
