Quake survivors to reach Chakwal today

CHAKWAL: All is set to welcome 1,000 earthquake survivors today (Friday) at a tent village established near Karhan village, 10 kilometres from Chakwal. Two hundred tents have been installed where electricity, water, bathrooms and kitchen facilities have been provided. The Punjab government has provided Rs 2 million for this purpose. The proposed tent village was established in the old airport strip. Food will be provided free at this tent village. Muhammad Arif, the executive district officer for works told reporters that this tent village would be expanded up to 10,000 people and overall 2,000 tents would be installed. online

Ban imposed on use of polythene bags

LARKANA: Kashmore District Nazim Sardar Saleem Jan Khan Mazari has imposed a ban on the use of polythene bags in the district. The order will be enforced with immediate effect and remain in force for a period of seven days. Violators of the ban will be liable to be punished be action under section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code. online

Deadline for submission of forms extended

FAISALABAD: Faisalabad Education Board has extended the date for submission of forms and fees for private students attending to take primary and middle standard examinations. The date has been extended to November 30. online

Youth shot dead in petty dispute

MIRPUR MATHELO: Armed men killed a youth over a petty dispute near Khanpur. Five armed men killed 22-year old Sabir Mehran in Khuda Baksh Mehr village and fled. Mehran’s father got registered a first information report (FIR) with Khanpur Mehr Police and named three Kabir, Manzoor and Muhammad Mehr. According to sources, the accused suspected that Mehran was involved in the abduction of Manzoor Mehr’s cousin. online
