Relief items worth Rs 102m sent by PML Punjab: Zaheer

LAHORE: Various wings of the Pakistan Muslim League (PML) Punjab-chapter have dispatched 601 truckloads of relief items worth Rs 102 million to the earthquake affected areas so far on Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi’s directives and a tent city has been established for 200 families in Langarpura, Azad Kashmir, where quake victims are being provided all the necessary facilities, Punjab Minister for Communication and Works Chaudhry Zaheeruddin told reporters at the PML House on Saturday.
Zaheeruddin said that 207 trucks carrying blankets, tents, medicines, warm clothes and food worth Rs 55 million had been sent to Azad Kashmir by the PML Punjab chapter, 103 trucks had been sent by PML Punjab Women’s Wing, 88 trucks had been sent by the Education Wing, 26 had been sent by the Labour Wing, 37 trucks had been sent by the Youth Wing, two truckloads of medicines had been sent by the Doctors’ Wing and two trucks had been dispatched by the Minority Wing.
Giving details of relief work done individually by PML office bearers so far, Zaheer said PML Faisalabad President Asim Nazir donated Rs 2.5 million in the President’s Relief Fund, PML Jhang President Sheikh Muhammad Yaqoob dispatched 30 trucks carrying 2,000 blankets, 100 tents, 500 kg powdered milk, 2000 kg sugar and 640 flour bags, PML President Gujranwala Zafarullah Cheema dispatched 35 trucks of rice, flour and quilts, PML Hafizabad General Secretary dispatched 20 trucks, PML Bhakkar President sent 17 trucks, PML Toba Tek Singh President Dr Ashfaqur Rehman sent 14 trucks of flour, tents, biscuits and ghee and PML Mandi Bahauddin President Khizar Ilyas dispatched 20 trucks of relief items to earthquake-affected areas.
The supply of relief items would continue till the rehabilitation of earthquake victims, he added.
