London suicide bomber buried in Samundari village

LAHORE: The remains of one of the four suicide bombers, blamed for the deadly July 7 attacks in London, were quietly buried on Thursday in his ancestors village in Samundari, relatives said. Shehzad Tanweer’s mother brought the remains of her son on a flight on Wednesday from London to Lahore, according to an Interior Ministry official.

They were then driven to Chhotian Kota village, where the remains were to be buried at a local Islamic saint’s shrine. Tanweer was one of three British Muslims who detonated homemade bombs on three trains and a bus. Residents said the burial was arranged by Tahir Pervaiz, Tanweer’s uncle.

“The burial has taken place,” Pervaiz said. A spokesman of the British High Commission in Islamabad said he had no information about Tanweer’s burial. reuters
