Govt responsible for rocket attack on Mengal’s house: MNA
Staff Report
ISLAMABAD: National Assembly member Abdul Rauf Mengal said on Friday that the government was responsible for the rocket attack on Balochistan National Party President Nawab Akhtar Mengal’s residence in Khuzdar district.
Speaking on a point of order in the National Assembly, he accused the government of creating a law and order situation in violence-prone Balochistan. “While people are mourning the loss of life and property claimed by the October 8 earthquake, and the opposition is trying to help the government cope with the situation, some government officials are trying to spoil the atmosphere by settling personal scores against their political rivals by using the government machinery,” he said.
People including the son of the Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Resources Naseer Ahmed Mengal had been named in the FIR for firing rockets at Akhtar Mengal’s residence, killing one person and injuring five others, he said, adding, “The government is not taking any action despite the fact that an FIR has been registered.”
He said that if the government did not act immediately the Pakistan Oppressed Nations Movement would hold countrywide protests against it (government).
He also accused security agencies of kidnapping Baloch tribesmen and torturing them. He said the government had already faced hardship in March this year after the rape of a female doctor at Sui gas fields. “Now a naval officer humiliated a Baloch in Gwadar by cutting off his moustache in public. People were already feeling deprived of their rights in Gwadar and this incident can lead to another March-like situation,” he added.
