ISLAMABAD: National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has finally issued decision against K-Electric (KE) after finding it involved in over billing for power consumers of Karachi, sources said.
Official sources told Daily Times that NEPRA had taken action against the privately owned power firm (KE). They told that the regulator had advised to initiate action against 11 officials of the power company that were found involve in the matter of over-billing besides imposing penalty on the firm. Deputy General Manager of KE Shoaib Siddiqi, representing the company, had initially refused, but later admitted he committed the crime under which power consumers were charged additionally.
A senior official at NEPRA said KE had hidden the facts and did not present actual picture of the matter. Inquiry team of KE was also involved in this heinous business under which innocent Karachiites were looted through over-billing.
