LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif presided over a high-level meeting on Saturday, which reviewed various proposals for facilitating farmers and giving subsidy on electricity bills for agri-tube-wells and fertilisers. Federal Minister for Finance Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for Food Security Sikandar Bosan, Minister of State for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali, federal and provincial authorities attended the meeting.
Shahbaz Sharif said that the Punjab government had taken solid steps for the uplift of agriculture sector and to provide facilities to the farmers.
He said that modern technology is being promoted for enhancing per acre yield and development of agriculture. The chief minister said that the role of farmers is very important in agrarian economy and we will protect the interests of the farmers.
He directed that the writing of price on fertiliser bag should be ensured. He also directed that the officials should participate in the meeting with complete preparation and present correct information and figures.
