ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain on Tuesday urged the business community to come forward and play a leading role in the ongoing economic turn around and fully exploit the true potential of the country.
In a meeting with a delegation of Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) the President emphasised the vital role of business community and private sector in the economic development of country.
Mamnoon asked the business community to avail various trade concessions and incentive packages being offered by the government to attract foreign and domestic investment in various sectors.
He said the government’s policies and initiatives had led to the restoration of confidence of local and foreign investors and agreements were being signed for investment particularly in infrastructure development and energy.
He appreciated the significant contribution made by the SCCI despite the numerous internal and external challenges including the problems of militancy and law and order.
Recalling his association with the Karachi Chamber of Commerce, he said he was fully aware of the various issues and problems being faced by the business community.
He assured the government would continue to make more concerted efforts to bolster trade and economic activities and promote business interests of the country. He said the corrective measures and steps of the government had been fruitful, as the economic indicators were showing positive signs and the foreign direct investment had started pouring in the country.
President referred to various issues and problems raised by the delegation during the meeting and assured every possible support and assistance to SCCI in its endeavors to promote trade and business activities in the country.
The delegation thanked him for meeting and assured that SCCI would continue making its positive contributions towards national economy.
