ISLAMABAD - President Mamnoon Hussain has invited foreign investment in the telecom sector of the country, especially the manufacturing of 3G and 4G compatible mobile handsets.
Talking to a delegation of IT companies of China here on Friday, he invited the foreign investors especially the Chinese companies to take advantage of the opportunities that exist in the IT sector of the country.
Appreciating Chinese expertise in the field, the president observed that greater Chinese investment in this sector will create a win situation for the people of the two countries, besides further augmenting the time-tested and multifaceted bilateral relationship. The president said that Pakistan offers the most liberal investment policies in the region allowing 100 per cent equity and investors could repatriate 100 per cent of their profit.
He said that the government accords highest priority to the development of information technology and telecommunications sector for the provision of quality services, employment generation and reduction in poverty. The Chinese delegation evinced keen interest in further exploring business opportunities in Pakistan’s telecom sector.
